When it comes to English extreme-metal albums released in 1988, Carcasss Reek of Putrefaction and Napalm Deaths From Enslavement to Obliteration understandably receive a ton of praise, but Bolt Throwers bullet-spraying debut should be heralded as an equally raucous achievement. In Battle There is No Law! is the groups fastest and grindiest opus, but even at their quickest speeds, Bolt Throwers signature churn and their unfathomably beefy guitar tones still shine through the punkish mayhem. Its a bloody mess of the highest order.
