Even across a legendarily and reliably crushing catalogue like High on Fires, theres something especially seismic about 2018s Electric Messiah. Described by glass-chewing riff-lord Matt Pike at the time as the best album weve ever done, by far, it finds the Oakland trio leaning into the d-beats extras hard (Spewn from the Earth), the doom-sludging decimates anything in a 10,000-mile-wide radius, and Pikes solos are apocalyptically ripping, across the board. Its title track is a Grammy-winning salute to late Motrhead member Lemmy Kilmister, though its but one of many aces on the awesome Electric Messiah.
